The Disability Gateway will assist all people with disability, their families and Carers to locate and access services across Australia.
The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government initiative and will:
- improve the navigation to access relevant information and services
- span multiple sectors including health, housing, employment, transport and everyday living
- exist as a central point of entry for referrals to disability information, services and programs

It's a great idea to talk with Carer Gateway staff to see what services and support are available in your area.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
The NDIS is designed to support people under 65 with a disability to get the care and support they need to optimise their potential. The NDIS also provides families and carers with information and practical supports.
The NDIS has now commenced rolling out in the City of Wanneroo, so people with disability can apply to become an NDIS participant and access an annual funding package to support their needs.
Comprehensive information and resources are available on the NDIS website, including how to check your eligibility and guidance on how to commence your NDIS journey.
As part of a Department of Communities state-wide grant, Brightwater has developed a useful one-stop NDIS resource for individuals and their families, carers, guardians, health and other human services professionals, and disability service providers.
The NDIS Toolkit has been developed to support the sector in guiding individuals with complex support needs through NDIS eligibility and preplanning. The toolkit will help people register for the NDIS and prepare for planning meetings by taking out the guesswork. There is also information in the toolkit about roles and responsibilities, what can be funded and where people can find someone to help them with their applications.
