The City of Wanneroo Council endorsed the Noongar name Dordaak Kepup ("place of living waters") for the Landsdale Library and Youth Innovation Hub. This initiative supports the City's broader goal of celebrating Noongar culture through asset naming.
Dordaak Kepup reflects:
- Living waterways: Wetlands vital to Noongar life and culture.
- Living heritage: Cultural sites and travel routes along these wetlands.
- Places of connection: Spaces for storytelling, family, and knowledge.
- Inspiring the future: A hub for learning and growth for youth and families.
The naming process, led by Moodjar Consultancy and Ni Kadadjiny Koort, also identified opportunities to extend Noongar naming to rooms and spaces within the facility.
