New Online Community Directory

Online community directory trial findings announced

Thank you to everyone who participated in the City’s Community Directory trial in December.

The trial proved very useful to guide the design of the directory and below is a summary of the key findings.  Sixteen people participated in the trial and completed the online survey / feedback form.

Key findings

  • All participants said that they would use the directory in the future – 40% monthly, 23% fortnightly, 23 % quarterly and 16% weekly
  • 65% will access the directory from a PC, 30% through a smart phone and the remainder through an iPad
  • 93% said that the content was relevant
  • 79% indicated that information was very easy, or easy to find.

As well, 70% said that they experienced no problems during the trial.

The landing page and design were revised based on feedback from those who experienced problems or suggested ideas to improve the directory.  Here is the link if you wish to look at the latest version.

The official launch of the directory is scheduled for March.  The system, however, is already live and we’ll continue to promote it to groups and populate it leading up to the launch.

There are now 150 listings in the directory and so far we have received more than 6,000 views from over 4,000 different people.

If your community group would like to register to use the directory or submit a new listing, please complete the online form below.

Background

WA firm Scoop Digital has been appointed to establish and manage an online Community Directory for the City of Wanneroo.

The FREE service for users will enable the community to easily find out what’s happening in the City and access local services and facilities.

The City carried out comprehensive research prior to awarding this contract to identify the need for the service, as well as support from the local community.

A community survey conducted in late 2019 confirmed its need and benefits with 90% of survey respondents indicating that they would use and update the system for their local group.

Once the directory if fully up and running, Scoop will liaise directly with the community to maintain the system. However, the City will have access and be responsible for the quality of information.

If you have an existing listing and would like to make any changes, you can either:
1) Log in and make your own changes
2) Email Scoop Digital at wanneroo@scoop.com.au to make this change for you.

Scoop Digital’s media network includes various media brands, websites, newsletters, social media and content-licensing networks, including www.scoop.com.au

Much of the content on the Wanneroo Community Directory will be shared through this network, exposing local community groups and organisations to more than 30 websites across WA.  Your listing will be included on the localista network, which attracts over 100,000 searches a month.
