The City of Wanneroo’s 2020/21 and 2021/22 Capital Works Programs include upgrades to Gumblossom Park, Quinns Rocks. These upgrades include an accessible path connection between the Community Centre Car Park and Sports Amenities Building, Baseball field upgrades, Batting Cage Lighting and design for possible future small ball sport lighting to the west field.
Baseball Upgrades
North Coast Ball Club was successful in obtaining Sports Australia Community Sport Infrastructure grant funding for upgrades towards the Baseball Facilities at Gumblossom Park. The City who will undertake the works are looking to inform local residents and park users at Gumblossom Park of the works.
The City has engaged with North Coast Ball Club in the development of the Baseball Field Upgrade concept, and notified both Quinns FC and Quinns Primary School of these plans, requesting feedback.
Works include the extension of baseball perimeter fencing, provision of dug outs, temporary shade structures, additional back nets and pitching bull pen. Floodlighting will be provided to the batting cage and a design provided for the future provision of small ball sport lighting for the west field. These works are anticipated to occur in the 2020/21 Financial Year and will not impact the existing trees on site.
Path Connection
To help alleviate instances of verge parking along Quinns Road, the City is proposing to provide an accessible-compliant path connection between the Community Centre Car Park and Sports Amenities Building. These works are anticipated to occur in the 2021/22 Financial Year, and will not impact the existing trees on site.
