What approvals do I need? - Grouped dwellings

Description	A dwelling that is one of a group of two (2) or more dwellings on the same lot, such that no dwelling is placed wholly or partly vertically above another (except where special conditions of landscape or topography dictate otherwise), and includes a dwelling on a survey strata with common property.
Do I need approval?	Planning Approval is required in all circumstances where one (1) or more grouped dwellings are proposed on a lot. Should it be required, planning approval must be obtained prior to a building permit being issued. A Building Permit is always required for grouped dwellings.

Building Please refer to the below application checklists (Certified or Uncertified) for a complete list of the information required to apply for a building permit: Certified Residential Building Permit Application Checklist – This checklist is applicable when your proposed building has been assessed by a registered private building surveyor and they have issued a Certificate of Design Compliance (CDC) to state that the structure complies with applicable building standards; or Uncertified Building Permit Application Checklist – This checklist is applicable when the plans and specifications of a proposed building have not been assessed by a registered private building surveyor and the drawings and documents submitted with your permit application will require assessment by the City’s building surveyors.
