Important information
The Sandcruiser beach wheelchair is available to hire, free of charge, between October and April every year. It’s located at Quinns Community Centre and can be used at Quinns Beach.
The wheelchair is designed to be used on the sand, grass and pathways. For your safety, it can’t be submerged in the water.

Make a booking
Make sure you book the wheelchair before you plan to use it, to make sure it's available.

Bookings will open on Wednesday 1 October 2025.
Accessing the beach wheelchair
Once you have received an email confirming your booking, you can access the wheelchair storeroom in two different ways:
I have a Master Locksmiths Access Key
- Use MLAK to open door of storage for the beach wheelchair - view map
- After use, clean the beach wheelchair thoroughly.
- Return the beach wheelchair to storage and ensure that the door is closed and locked securely.
I don't have a Master Locksmiths Access Key
- Collect key to storage from the Surf Life Saving Club Tower located on the beach - view map
- Use key to open door of storage for the beach wheelchair - view map
- Return the key to the Surf Life Saving Club Tower.
- When you have finished using the beach wheelchair, collect the key once more from the Surf Life Saving Club Tower.
- Clean the beach wheelchair thoroughly, and return to storage ensuring that the door is closed and locked securely.
- Return the key back to the Surf Life Saving Club Tower.
Frequently asked questions
How long can the beach wheelchair be hired for?
There are two time slots available for bookings on available days during the booking season. However, people who would like it all day can book out both timeslots by submitting two booking forms.
How will I know if my booking has been confirmed?
You will receive a confirmation email containing your requested booking date and time, along with a copy of the site map.
Do you need to be a City of Wanneroo resident to hire the beach wheelchair?
No, anyone who would like to access Quinns Beach, and requires a beach wheelchair can hire it for use.
Can I take the beach wheelchair to another beach?
No, the beach wheelchair can only be used at Quinns Beach.
Is there beach matting at Quinns Beach?
Yes, but please note that the beach matting only extends halfway down the sand.
Is there an age limit to use the beach wheelchair?
No, there is no age limit.
How can I report damage to the beach wheelchair?
Please let us know if there you notice any damage to the beach wheelchair by emailing communitydevelopment@wanneroo.wa.gov.au.
