Girrawheen Hub - What's On

Want to make things happen for your community?

Come and meet like-minded people from Girrawheen and the surrounding community to discuss ideas to boost our community.

Meetings are held monthly at the Girrawheen Hub, all community members are welcome to join - come along and see what it's all about.

Workshops

From rock painting to gardening, crafting and drumming. The City partners with local people and organisations to run creative and educational workshops for the Girrawheen and surrounding communities to attend. Watch this space for more details.

Girrawheen Hub Get Together

Cost: Free to attend

The Girrawheen Neighbourhood Network invite you to a free community event.

Join us at these school holidays at the Girrawheen Hub Get Together to celebrate all things local – activities including:

  • Free kids activities including face painting and train rides
  • Seed bomb making
  • Rock painting
  • Market stalls
  • Live music
  • Coffee and ice-cream

Gift your clothes a second life at our clothes swap, build a miniature terrarium, and create clothes are with ironable denim patches with Second Spark Studio!

Heritage Festival - Visible Mending

When: Workshop 1 - Tuesday 23 April // 10am to 1pm and Workshop 2 - Tuesday 30 April // 10am to 1pm
Where: Girrawheen Hub, 11 Patrick Court, Girrawheen (behind the Girrawheen Library)

Whether you're a novice or a seasoned stitch enthusiast, this workshop will empower you to build your skills and knowledge. We'll explore visible mending techniques 
such as appliqué, embroidery, and sashiko.

This hands-on session will share techniques to set you on your way to enhancing clothing with your repair and transformation skills.

Note: Sewing supplies, some patches/ fabric and notes will be provided. Just bring clothing or home textiles that have rips or holes that need repairing, and any buttons, patches, fabrics that you might like to use.

Foodbank workshops

Foodbank workshops are a fun, interactive way to to learn how to cook and prepare easy, healthy and tasty meals and are heading to the Girrawheen Hub in April and May to deliver two nom! workshops.

You will learn about healthy foods and nutrition, and how to:

  • Cook and prepare easy, healthy and tasty meals
  • Choose healthy foods
  • Eating healthy for the whole family
  • Preparing and storing food safely

nom! Families

When: Tuesday 9 April // 10am to 12pm
Where: Girrawheen Hub, 11 Patrick Court, Girrawheen (behind the Girrawheen Library)

nom! families is a workshop aimed at parents/carers to attend with their children (age 5+ years).

nom! Adults

When: Tuesday 7 May // 10:30am to 1:30pm

nom! adults is a workshop aimed at adults aged 18+.
