The City of Wanneroo seeks expressions of interest from local community groups interested in leading the coordination and delivery of a community-led Wanneroo Community and Sporting Clubs Showcase event.
The event’s aim is to celebrate and showcase community and sporting groups within Wanneroo and provide a platform for groups to converge and showcase their activities, services, and programs while promoting their purpose and membership.
Overview
As a large and diverse local government, the City of Wanneroo has many community groups and sporting clubs that provide valuable activities, services and programs for the community. To raise awareness and provide an event enabling these groups to attract new membership and volunteers, it is proposed that a community-led event is staged to highlight local community and sporting groups, by displaying and demonstrating their activities and services.
The event should be open to all interested community and sporting groups based in Wanneroo and could potentially include market stalls, club demonstrations, performances, and opportunities for groups to promote.
Organiser responsibilities
The selected community group will be responsible for coordinating an inclusive community event that showcases local Wanneroo community and sporting groups during the current financial year in a central location within the City, such as the Wanneroo Showgrounds.
Key responsibilities will include:
Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of the community-led event, ensuring a well-organised experience for participants and attendees.
Gather and facilitate the involvement of community and sporting groups, guiding them in displaying and demonstrating their respective activities, services, and programs.
Develop and implement effective promotional campaigns to maximise attendance and community awareness, emphasising the collective purpose of the participating groups.
Actively seek and manage funding to deliver the event (this may involve organising fundraising events and applying for grants). Demonstrate efficient budget management throughout the coordination of the event.
City of Wanneroo support
Although the City of Wanneroo will be available to provide support to the organiser, this is a community-led event, and the selected community group will be responsible for the successful coordination and delivery of the event. The City will not be directly involved in event delivery.
The City is able to provide advice to the event organising on requirements for an event application, facility booking and other relevant City processes.
Assist organiser to apply for community funding
The City can provide support and assistance to the event organiser to apply for up to $5,000 through the City of Wanneroo Community Funding Program, Community Grants stream.
The City will share the event organisers call for community and sporting groups to participate in the event through our networks; and the City will share the event organiser’s social media post of the event via the City’s social media.
