Dog waste
Dog waste can be an unpleasant experience for users of our parks, beaches and other public spaces, and can have detrimental health and environmental impacts.
Keeping these spaces free of dog waste helps maintain the beauty of our City and ensures everyone can freely enjoy the City’s amenities.
We encourage owners to do the right thing by:
- carrying a plastic or biodegradable bag, trowel or pooper scooper when walking your dog. Store bags/pouches/pooper scooper products with your dog lead as a reminder to take them on walks.
- using a personal bag carrier which attaches to your dog's lead to store plastic bags for use during walks.
- looking for the dog waste bag dispensers available in many City’s parks and dog beaches if you require a bag, using the bins available or disposing of it in your general waste bin at home.
Owners are expected to clean up after their dog, bring their own dog waste bags and dispose of it correctly. To assist, the City provides courtesy dog waste bag dispensers and bins in many parks and dog beaches throughout the City.
To further support clean and enjoyable public spaces, the City is progressively installing additional dog waste dispensers at City parks that feature BBQs, playgrounds, or other high‑use facilities.
