Important dates for the rollout of the Three Bin System.

Important dates

May and June 2021

Between Monday 3 May and Friday 4 June, your general waste bin will receive a new red lid.

To assist the City during the changeover, please follow the steps below until your lid has been changed over

On your usual waste collection day: 

  • Property occupiers, please leave your general waste bin out from 6am to 6pm on your usual waste collection day.
  • The City of Wanneroo will empty your general waste bin as usual and leave it on the kerbside.
  • Your new red lid will be swapped on the same day.
  • You can remove your bin from the kerbside after it has been emptied and the lid swapped over.

Please note:
If you have registered to receive a smaller general waste bin, your lid will not be replaced. Your new 140L red lid general waste bin will be delivered in July and August 2021. 

June and July 2021

Delivery of lime-green lid (GO) bins commences to eligible and registered properties only.

July and August 2021

Delivery of smaller 140L red lid general waste bins to registered properties only.

General waste bins that were found to be incompatible to fit a new red lid (and thus require a brand new bin), will also be completed during this period. 

Additionally, properties that did not have the lid of their general waste bins changed over to a red lid during May/June, will be rescheduled to have their lids changed over during July and August.

Important information

Who will receive a garden organics (GO) bin?

  • All households 400m² or larger will automatically receive a 240L lime-green lid garden organics bin
  • Properties smaller than 400m² can register online for a free 240L garden organics bin or keep the current two bin system, where garden organic waste goes in the general waste bin. Registration is essential for smaller properties.  

How and when the City will provide the three bins?

General waste bin 

  • May and June 2021 - the dark green lid on your general waste bin will be removed and replaced with a red lid, unless you have registered to receive a smaller 140L red lid general waste bin
  • Smaller 140L red lid general waste bins will be delivered to registered households in July and August 2021.
  • General waste bins that were found to be incompatible to fit a new red lid during the initial rollout (and thus require a brand new bin), will be completed during July and August 2021.
  • Properties that did not have the lid of their general waste bins changed over to a red lid during May/June, will be rescheduled to have their lids changed over during July and August 2021.

Garden organics (GO) bin 

  • June and July 2021 - properties 400m2 or larger will automatically receive a 240L lime-green lid garden organics bin
  • Properties smaller than 400m² can register online for a free 240L garden organics bin from Monday 1 March to 5pm Sunday 28 March 2021
  • June and July 2021 - eligible and registered properties will receive a 240L lime-green lid garden organics bin. 

Recycling bin 

  • Your recycling bin will not change at this time. Future opportunities to exchange your existing 240L for a 360L bin will be communicated after the delivery of the new three bin system is completed.
