Overview of the City of Wanneroo Council
The City of Wanneroo Council comprises a Mayor and 14 Councillors, all directly elected by popular vote. Both the Mayor and Councillors serve four-year terms. To ensure continuity and retain experienced members, Western Australia's local government electoral system mandates a staggered approach: half of the Council's positions become vacant every two years. Following each ordinary election, the newly formed Council elects a Deputy Mayor from among its members.
