2025 City of Wanneroo local government election results

The Councillors-Elect will be sworn in at a ceremony at the Civic Centre on Tuesday 28 October 2025.

The WAEC has confirmed the following elected Councillors with terms ending 20 October 2029.

Results

North Ward – Sonet Coetzee

Councillor Coetzee has been re-elected unopposed and returns to sit alongside Council Member Alex Figg in representing the North Ward.

North-East Ward – Bronwyn Smith

Councillor Smith joins sitting Council Member Glynis Parker in representing the North-East Ward.

Central-West Ward – Helen Berry

Councillor Berry joins sitting Council Member Phil Bedworth in representing the Central-West Ward.

Central-East Ward – Paul Miles

Councillor Miles joins sitting Council Member Marizane Moore in representing the Central-East Ward.

Central Ward – Jordan Wright

Councillor Wright joins sitting Council Member Jacqui Huntley in representing the Central Ward.

South-West Ward – Hugh Nguyen

Councillor Nguyen joins sitting Council Member Vinh Nguyen in representing the South-West Ward.

South Ward – James Rowe

Councillor Rowe joins sitting Council Member Eman Seif in representing the South Ward.

The City acknowledges outgoing Councillor Natalie Herridge who will not return to Council this term, following four years of service. We thank Natalie Herridge for her time, service and dedication to the City and the community. Polling for the election closed at 6pm on Saturday 18 October 2025.

Further information

Local government elections are held every two years. The Mayor and Councillors are each elected to four-year terms, with half the Council Members elected every two years. A Council election for the position of Deputy Mayor will be held on Tuesday 28 October 2025 at a Special Council Meeting.

Following the 2025 Local Government Elections the Swearing in of the new City of Wanneroo Councillors will be held on Monday 27 October 2025 at the Civic Centre, 23 Dundebar Road Wanneroo.

A Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony will commence at 6:00pm in the City’s Amphitheatre, followed by the Swearing-in Ceremony in the Council Chamber.

Local Government Ordinary Election - Call for Nominations

An Ordinary Postal Election will be held on Saturday, 18 October 2025 in the City of Wanneroo to fill the following vacancies:

  • Central Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • Central-East Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • Central-West Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • North Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • North-East Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • South Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term
  • South-West Ward - 1 Councillor - 4 year term

Nominations Open on Thursday, 28 August 2025.
Nominations Close at 4pm on Thursday, 4 September 2025

Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer: 

  • At any time during the above period by arrangement; or
  • between 2:00pm and 4:00pm Thursday 4 September 2025 (close of nominations) at the City of Wanneroo, 23 Dundebar Road, WANNEROO.

Nomination Requirements

Candidates are required to lodge with the Returning Officer:

  • The Commission's preferred method for candidates to nominate is through the Commissions Nomination Builder. This tool assists candidates in completing their nomination form, including their profile and additional information. The Nomination Builder can be accessed via https://lgportal.waec.wa.gov.au/noms. Candidates can complete their nomination details and profile, print the completed form with the allocated reference number, and lodge it with the Returning Officer. Alternatively, a copy of the prescribed nomination form is available from the Returning Officer or via www.elections.wa.gov.au/LGE25Candidate-Information.
  • a single A4 page profile of not more than 1,000 characters (including spaces) containing information about the candidate.
  • a nomination deposit of $100 (cash, EFT, bank cheque or postal order).
  • a recent passport-sized photograph (optional).
  • every candidate must complete the online course titled Local Government Candidate Induction, available at Induction for prospective candidates | LGIRS, prior to nominating and prove the course code on the nomination form; and
  • in addition to your A4 profile, you may provide additional information that you consider to be relevant to your candidature. This written statement cannot be more than 2,000 characters (including spaces), must be in the English language and is for publication on the local government’s official website only (optional).

Please note

Where an agent lodges a nomination on a candidate’s behalf, it must be in the prescribed form with a written authorisation signed by the candidate. The documents may be hand delivered or posted to the Returning Officer and must be received by the close of nominations.

Local Government Ordinary Election Close of Enrolments - Roll Close: 5pm Friday 22 August 2025

You may be eligible to be enrolled to vote in the local government elections on 18 October 2025 if you live in or are an owner or occupier of rateable property in the City of Wanneroo.

Residents

You are automatically enrolled to vote if you are on the State Electoral Roll as at 5:00 PM Friday, 22 August 2025. If you are not already on the State Electoral Roll and meet the eligibility criteria, or if you have changed address recently, you must complete an enrolment form.

Enrolment Forms

You can enrol or update your details online, or download an enrolment form, via the Western Australian Electoral Commission website (www.elections.wa.gov.au/enrol). Forms are also available from the Australian Electoral Commission (www.aec.gov.au). Enrolments and updates must be completed and received by 5:00 PM Friday, 22 August 2025.

Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers

If you are a non-resident owner or occupier of rateable property in the City of Wanneroo and are on the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, you are eligible to enrol to vote. Owners of land who were on the last Local Government roll continue to retain that status until they cease to own the rateable property to which the enrolment relates. Occupiers do not have continuous enrolment and should contact the City of Wanneroo to confirm their enrolment status. To be eligible to enrol as an occupier, you will need to have a right of continuous occupation under a lease, tenancy agreement or other legal instrument for at least the next three months following the date of the application to enrol and have paid rent for at least the prescribed amount.

Joint Owners and Occupiers

If a rateable property is owned or occupied by more than two people, a majority of the owners/occupiers may nominate two persons from amongst themselves who are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll, to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Corporations

A body corporate that owns or occupies rateable property may nominate two people who are officers of the body corporate that are on either the State or Commonwealth Electoral Roll to enrol as owner/occupier electors.

Enrolment Forms - Non-Resident Owners and Occupiers Only

Enrolment forms can be obtained from local governments and must be lodged with the Chief Executive Officer by 5:00 PM Friday, 22 August 2025. Further information can be obtained from the City of Wanneroo.
