District Planning Scheme Amendment No. 172

The City of Wanneroo has initiated Amendment No. 172 to District Planning Scheme No.2 (DPS2). This amendment proposes numerous changes to align the City’s planning scheme with the State Government's 'model provisions'.

What is proposed?

If approved, this amendment would see the planning scheme updated and reformatted to reflect State Government's template for planning schemes, known as the 'model provisions'. This would involve a number of modifications to the planning scheme text and maps.

Key changes

Some key changes proposed as part of this amendment include:

  • Re-formatting of the DPS2 document into 6 parts (currently 10 parts)
  • A reduction in the number of zones within the City's planning scheme to reflect the zones contained within the 'model provisions'
  • Changes to a number of land use terms and general definitions to reflect those in the 'model provisions'
  • Various changes to the planning scheme maps to reflect new standards under the 'model provisions'.

This amendment will result in a zoning change for some properties given that some of our current zones and land uses are being updated to align with the 'model provisions’.

Refer to the Question/Answer and various information sheets on this page for further information on how this may impact your property.

To find out the current zoning of your property, you can view the City's online mapping system here: Online mapping
