Local Planning Strategy

The City of Wanneroo is preparing its first Local Planning Strategy that will outline its objectives for future land use planning and development in the City. The Strategy will inform the City’s new Local Planning Scheme No. 3 and subsequent land use plans and planning policies.

The Local Planning Strategy will be the City’s overarching land use planning document that will guide future land use decision making so it is important that the Strategy reflects the planning and development aspirations of the City’s community and stakeholders.

Have your say

We have prepared information sheets on various land use planning-related topics, including a range of opportunities and challenges that strategic land use planning can address. We are interested to hear your thoughts on the opportunities and issues that you would like us to consider and include in the City’s Local Planning Strategy.

After viewing the attached discussion paper and/or individual fact sheets linked to the community survey, you are invited to complete the survey.

Launch survey

The survey is designed so that you only need to complete the areas of those on matters of interest to you.

There are 8 sections in the survey and it should take participants Between 5 to 15 minutes to complete.  Before completing the survey, please read the Local Planning Strategy, or individual facts sheets for the areas you are interested in.

All survey participants will go in the draw to win one of two Bunnings Gift Vouchers valued at $100 each.

NOTE: Only people who live or work in the City of Wanneroo are eligible to win this prize.

Background

In accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, Local Governments are required to prepare Local Planning Strategies to set out their long-term planning directions for the Local Government Planning Scheme area.

Once a draft Strategy has been prepared, it will be sent to the Western Australian Planning Commission for certification to advertise.

Following this, further consultation will occur with the City seeking feedback on the draft Local Planning Strategy in 2023.
