Local Planning Strategy

Background

In accordance with the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015, Local Governments are required to prepare a Local Planning Strategy to set out their long-term planning directions for the Local Government Planning Scheme area.

The Strategy will guide the future planning and development of the City to the year 2041, focusing on addressing key issues affecting social, economic, and environmental factors. It will also provide the strategic basis for the preparation of the City’s new Local Planning Scheme No.3.

At the Ordinary Council meeting held on 18 April 2023, the draft City of Wanneroo Local Planning Strategy was endorsed by Council for approval to advertise.

The draft Local Planning Strategy will now be submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) for consent to advertise. The draft Strategy will then be made available for public feedback. Council will then consider all submissions received before the final Strategy is submitted to the WAPC for final approval.
