To ensure the City is travel friendly with balanced and sustainable transport choices upgrades will be made to improve the roundabout at the intersection of Hester Avenue and Connolly Drive, Merriwa.
Including:
- Left-hand slip lane for turning from Hester Avenue eastbound to Connolly Drive.
- Improved roundabout and cycle entry.
- New pathways, crossings and footpath upgrades.
- Surface indicators.
- Drainage pit.
- Converting roundabout westbound from three lanes to two.
- Streetlighting upgrades.
Construction commenced 15 April 2024 and was due for completion in mid-August 2024. Unfortunately, due to the recent inclement weather conditions this project is now expected to be completed by the end of October 2024.
Partial Road Closure - Night works
The road resurfacing portion of these works will need to be carried out over three (3) night shifts.
Details of closure:
- 7 – 9 October 2024, between the hours of 7pm and 4am.
- This intersection will be partially closed to the public during the above dates and times only.
- Variable Message Boards will be in place to provide advanced notification of this partial road closure/night works to commuters.
