The City of Wanneroo is proud to support local artists and help create a thriving and dynamic artistic hub for residents and the wider community. Since 2001, the Community Art Awards have showcased the incredible diversity of Western Australian talent across painting, works on paper, sculpture, photography, film, and digital media.
In 2026, the Community Art Awards have undertaken a refresh to better reflect our commitment to recognising excellence in the arts sector, be more inclusive and provide greater opportunities for artists. Read on for key dates, prize categories, and how to enter.
Submission period
All artists residing in Western Australia are eligible to submit their artwork for consideration. Entries open on Thursday 12 February and close 5pm on 13 April 2026.

Award categories and prize structure
- Overall winner (acquisitive): $10,000
- Sculpture award; $2,500
- First Nations award: $2,500
- Local resident award: $2,000
- Emerging artist award: $1,500
- Young artist award*: $1,000
- People’s choice award: $500
*The young artist award is for those aged 16 - 21 years.
Selection process
This year all artists have an equal opportunity to enter with a single closing date for submissions. Entries will be reviewed by an independent pre-selection panel to determine which artworks will be accepted.
To celebrate and support our local creative community, at least 30% of accepted artworks will come from City of Wanneroo residents.
Exhibition
Artworks will be displayed in an exhibition at the Wanneroo Regional Gallery from 27 May to 25 July 2026.
