The Wanneroo Regional Museum is eager to hear from residents on how their lives have changed during COVID-19 for a local community history initiative.

Situated inside the Wanneroo Regional Museum on Dundebar Road, the Wanneroo Community History Centre holds an extensive collection on the history and heritage of the suburbs within the City of Wanneroo.

Now, the City is inviting residents of all ages to share first-hand accounts of life during the COVID-19 pandemic, documenting the day-to-day lives of the community during this time that can be shared with future generations.

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the project would demonstrate the value of preserving the community’s lived experience, and give residents an opportunity to share a snapshot of how their lives changed during COVID-19.

“It goes without saying that COVID-19 has touched all of our lives in some way,” Mayor Roberts said.

“Whether you have been working from home, home-schooling your children or finding new ways to connect with friends and family, we have all faced unique challenges in recent months.

“Museums are essential to documenting history, and this is a chance for us to record how we, as a community, collectively navigated this epidemic.

“It can be anything from a photograph of your street to a diary entry, a recipe or a drawing – we would love to hear from our residents on how they have been spending their time, staying connected and keeping entertained during these trying times.”
Interested residents can email submissions to museum@wanneroo.wa.gov.au or fill out the online form at www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au/covid19communitymemoryproject.
