19 local parks to receive upgrades

Published Thursday, 31st August 2023

Nineteen well-loved parks will get a new lease on life after Wanneroo Council awarded contracts for the provision of playground works across the City.

Upgrades to the parks, which span 14 suburbs, will include new playground equipment, softfall areas and the installation of shade sail structures.

The much-needed revamp will provide a range of benefits for the community, especially the young families who make up over 40 per cent of households in the City of Wanneroo.

Inviting, inclusive parks and playgrounds allow residents to enjoy the outdoors and provide improved opportunities to be healthy and active, and connect with their neighbours.

The addition of shade sails in several of the parks will also offer the families and children who use them with added protection during sunny Australian summers.

The contracts for the works have been awarded by tender to Active Discovery, Miracle, Aspace, Perth Better Homes, Perth Playground & Rubber and West Coast Shade.

The City has budgeted $1.4 million for the project, with construction to take place over the next six months.
