Work on the new 1.4km water distribution main to Alkimos and Eglington will help accommodate development in the coastal suburbs.

The State Government, through the Water Corporation, started work on the distribution main in July with work expected to finish in October 2015.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the $3.12million distribution main would run within the road reserve along Marmion Avenue, from Shorehaven Boulevard to Cinnabar Drive.

“The City has welcomed the commencement of the project which will support the continued development of the area,” she said.

“We are working with the Water Corporation to ensure minimal disruption to local traffic and road users.”

The proposed water main will connect to an existing larger capacity main in Marmion Avenue that feeds water from the south and will be extended in the future to service developments to the north as the need arises.

“We encourage road users to be cautious in the area and be aware of traffic management and thank motorists in advance for their patience while the corporation carries out this important work,” she said.
