The Wanneroo Council recently awarded a tender for the construction of the Yanchep Surf Life Club at a total project cost of $6.78M.

Local surf lifesavers have said they are looking forward to having a new facility in operation as they have outgrown their old building.

With the new club in operation, the surf club will have an enclosed area where they can store their first-aid equipment securely.

The City of Wanneroo will close the lower car park at Yanchep Lagoon at the end of the month due to the ongoing construction at the Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club and Amenities Building.

The car park, which is entered from the Brazier Road and Capricorn Esplanade roundabout, will be closed from 29 February 2016 until construction is completed, anticipated to be in November 2016.

While the City appreciates the car park closure will cause inconvenience, the timing will result in the majority of the works being undertaken during the winter months. There is signage around the car park to inform residents of the closure.

Throughout the construction period, residents will still be able to access the lagoon. Pedestrian access will be maintained down to the beach via the existing stair access, diagonally opposite the Yanchep Kiosk.

The City apologies for any inconvenience caused during this time.
