Mayor Tracey Roberts said she was thrilled with the win, and congratulated the Building
Services team on their incredible achievement.

“This is a significant award for the City as we were nominated and judged by the building
sector for excellence in building approvals and service,” Mayor Roberts said.

“It was extremely pleasing to be there and see our Building Services team acknowledged for
performing so well.”

The City was one of four finalists along with the cities of Mandurah, Rockingham and Swan
at the presentation held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday night.

In recognising the important role local government plays in the building industry, Master
Builders introduced the award this year to acknowledge councils the members believe are
performing best.

The City of Wanneroo was voted by builder members as a leader in efficiency and
responsiveness with building applications and customer service.

“In recent years the City has really worked on improving our efficiency in this area,” Mayor
Roberts said. “What makes our fast turn-around times even more impressive is that
Wanneroo is one of the busiest local governments for building approvals, processing more
than 7000 in each of the past two years.”
