Clarkson resident Janey Emery has been given the nod as the people’s choice in the City of Wanneroo’s 2016 Community Art Awards and Exhibition.

Janey Emery people's choice winner
The people’s choice award was based on public votes from those attending the exhibition over the past month, with a $600 prize.

Ms Emery’s painting “A Quiet Path” was inspired by the karri forest near Boranup in the state’s south west, and also took out the judges’ choice for the Best City of Wanneroo Resident entry on opening night.

The judges commented that the realistic artwork demonstrated a great use of colour, and the perspective created depth and the illusion of being in a forest.

Overall the City of Wanneroo gave out $16,800 in prizes in the 15th year of the awards.
