Hardship – Breaking the Cycle of Poverty

The City of Wanneroo is teaming with The Spiers Centre to put on an informative event for local residents during Anti-Poverty Week.

Hardship – Breaking the Cycle of Poverty will be held on Friday, 21 October at the Hainsworth Centre, Girrawheen.

This two-hour event will include information from various organisations and services including The Spiers Centre, Northern Suburbs Legal Centre, Saver Plus, Red Cross Tenancy Support Services, Salvation Army, Centrelink, Community Vision, Mental Health Access Services, Anglicare and the City of Wanneroo.

Topics covered by speakers will include the Red Cross Private Tenancy Support Service, tenancy issues, the Saver Plus Program and general budgeting and finances.

Anti-Poverty Week runs from 16 to 22 October, and aims to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship in Australia or overseas.

It was established in Australia as an expansion of the UN's annual International Anti-Poverty Day on October 17.

Speakers will be followed by an expo and there will also be a room available for private conversations.
