Guided Walks, Workshops and Bush-Care Events.

Published Wednesday, 23rd August 2017

Wanneroo has an abundance of breathtaking natural areas. Welcome spring by getting involved in guided walks, workshops and bush-care events across the City.

Spring Activities 2017

You are invited to learn about and help us conserve our natural areas. The City is working to improve the conservation of local flora and fauna in reserves and reduce the number of weeds in bushland.

Why not get to know your neighbours, get the kids in the street together and explore the bush with experienced guides who will introduce you to an array of plants and animals living in your local conservation reserves?

Discover local wildflowers with an abundance of species on offer to view at any one of our events. You will also learn responsible bushland etiquette in order to ensure healthy continuation of species found in the City.

Night stalks are run by specialist local guides who will teach you about native animals including bats, insects, frogs and owls in their nocturnal environment.

After highlighting a high incidence of fox predation on turtle eggs throughout the park, Friends of Yellagonga, were instrumental in initiating a coordinated trapping program undertaken by various land managers. Attend the workshop to learn about turtle nesting behaviour and care of turtles you may see when you are near rivers or wetlands.

The City is also encouraging residents to help clean up your favourite beach, estuary, river or stream as part of the 2017 WA Beach Clean-up on 14-15 October 2017.

To register for a beach clean-up over the weekend, or to volunteer with an existing group contact: renee@tangaroablue.org or call 0437 511 620.

For daytime activities, please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy enclosed shoes, a hat and sun screen.

You must register to attend any of these events. Please call the City of Wanneroo Conservation Team on 9405 5000 or email: ConservationMaint@wanneroo.wa.gov.au
