Members of Two Rocks Marine Rescue, Wanneroo/Joondalup SES, Yanchep Fire and Rescue Service, Driver Reviver volunteers and representatives from Alkimos, Quinns Mindarie and Yanchep surf lifesaving clubs were invited to the function, and were acknowledged for their efforts and contributions made to the City and its residents.
Mayor Tracey Roberts presented Volunteer Excellence awards to recipients who went above and beyond in contributing their time, skills and knowledge to their organisation in support of emergency service functions in the community.
“The City of Wanneroo is incredibly proud of all our volunteers, and we host these events each year as a way of thanking them for their dedication and contribution to our community,” Mayor Roberts said.
“Our emergency services volunteers play a vital role in keeping the City safe. These men and women save lives and property and help to ensure that our more than 208,000 residents and visitors to our City can safely enjoy our wonderful natural environment.
“Over the past year these volunteers have donated more than 15,000 hours of their time responding to incidents; patrolling our beaches and oceans; conducting searches; refining their skills through training; and supporting state government emergency services teams. For this, we are extremely grateful.”
Awards were presented to Brian Nalder from the Two Rocks Volunteer Marine Rescue Group, Jackie Kallen from Yanchep Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Rob Birtles from the Wanneroo / Joondalup SES.
The City of Wanneroo values the services emergency service volunteers provide for the community and actively supports the units based within the City.
