The City, as part of its 2024/2025 Capital Works Program, is currently upgrading the roundabout at the intersection of Hepburn Avenue and Mirrabooka Avenue, Marangaroo. Construction works were scheduled to commence 3 February 2025, however, did not occur until 17 March 2025. This has impacted the completion date, which is now anticipated to be 5 June 2025.
Due to the heavy daytime traffic at this intersection, to ensure public safety and the provision of access during the day, construction works need to be completed as night works, with associated road closures in place.
Details of road closure:
- 17 March 2025 to 5 June 2025, between the hours of 7pm and 6am
- This intersection is currently closed to the public during the above dates and times, however partial road closures will come into effect as works
- Variable Message Boards will remain on the verges to communicate road closure/night works to commuters throughout construction
- Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding areas.
Access to private properties in the surrounding area will not be interrupted during these works and road access to this intersection will be available during the day.
Temporary traffic management will be implemented to safely manage traffic and pedestrians around the worksite. These will remain in place for the duration of these works. Whilst it is inevitable that works of this nature will cause some inconvenience, every endeavour will be made to ensure this is kept to a minimum.

UPDATE: Notification of Road Closures and Night Works – Alexander Drive, Landsdale
The City, as part of its 2024/2025 Capital Works Program, is proceeding with the construction of a new shared pathway on the west side of Alexander Drive, Landsdale from Gnangara Road to Hepburn Avenue.
To ensure safety for road users and pedestrians, the majority of the construction works will take place under a one lane northbound closure on Alexander Drive.
Part road closure details
- Alexander Drive (dual carriageway) - one northbound lane only.
- Duration is estimated to be from 12 May 2025, until all stages of construction are anticipated to be completed within the 2025/2026 financial year.
- Access on Alexander Drive will be continuous throughout these works, with exception to the period indicated below.
Full road closure details
- Proposed for 18 to 20 June 2025 between the hours of 6pm to 4am.
- Intersection at Kingsway and Alexander Drive will be closed to the public during the above dates and times.
- Variable Message Boards will remain on verges to communicate road closures / night works to commuters and will include updates in response to changes that may occur during these works.
- Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding areas.
Access to properties in the surrounding area will not be interrupted during these works and access to Kingsway and Alexander Drive will be available during the day.

Adoption of Local Law - Bush Fire Brigades Amendment Local Law 2025
The City of Wanneroo has made a Bush Fire Brigades Amendment Local Law 2025 which comes into effect on 15 April 2025.
The purpose of the local law is to amend the City of Wanneroo Bush Fire Brigades Local Law 2024.
The effect of this local law is to replace the term ‘Bush Fire Brigade Officer’ with the defined term ‘Elected Officer’ in clauses 4.5(1)(c)(iii), 4.5(2) and 5.3(4)(a).
The local law may be inspected at the City’s offices at 23 Dundebar Road, Wanneroo during normal office hours.

- Variable Message Boards (VMB) will be placed on the verges to communicate road closure/night works to commuters five (5) weeks prior to construction commencing. VMBs will remain onsite to communicate updates in response to changes that may occur during these works.
- Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding areas.
Access to properties in the surrounding area will not be interrupted during these works and access to Mirrabooka Avenue, Koondoola Avenue and Montrose Avenue will be available during the day.

Highclere Boulevard and adjoining roads experience high volumes of traffic throughout the day, so these works need to be completed at night (with some associated road closures) to minimise traffic disruptions and maintain road safety for drivers and pedestrians.

- Night works – there will be nine (9) night shifts between 7 April 2025 to 17 April 2025 that will occur between the hours of 6:00pm and 12:00am (midnight)
- Road closure – the north lane closure of Marangaroo Drive at the intersection with Highclere Boulevard is tentatively booked for three (3) of the night shifts from 7 to 9 April 2025
- Variable Message Boards will be placed on the verges to communicate road closure/night works to commuters
- Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding areas.

The City, as part of its 2024/2025 Capital Works Program, is proceeding with the first stage of this project, which involves constructing a new pathway along Hartman Drive, extending from Gnangara Road to Motivation Drive. Works are scheduled to commence on 3 March 2025 with completion anticipated within eight (8) weeks.
Part Road Closure
The majority of construction works will take place under a one lane (northbound) closure of the Hartman Drive dual carriageway.
Night Works
- 28 March 2025 and 3 to 4 April 2025, between the hours of 6pm and 6am.
- Access along Hartman Drive will be continuous throughout these works as only one lane will be closed.
- Variable Message Boards will be in place to communicate to commuters one week prior to night works commencing.
- Road detours will be in place which will, at times, result in increased traffic in the surrounding area.

Notice of Proposal to Make Dogs on Leads in Nature Reserves
The proposed intention is to revoke the dog exercise areas status of 19 reserves within the City of Wanneroo in accordance with Section 31(3C) of the Dog Act 1976.
The effect of this amendment would require owners of dogs whilst exercising in these areas to have their dogs on a lead.
The 19 reserves would revert to Section 31(1) Dog Act 1976.

Notice of Electors' Annual General Meeting - Monday 3 February 2025 at 6pm
The Annual General Meeting of Electors tentatively scheduled to be held on Monday 9 December 2024 has been rescheduled.
The Annual General Meeting of Electors will now take place on 3 February 2025.
In accordance with Section 5.27 of the Local Government Act 1995, electors of the City of Wanneroo are invited to attend the City of Wanneroo’s Annual General Meeting on Monday, 3 February 2025 commencing at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the Chamber, Civic Centre (Level 1), 23 Dundebar Road, Wanneroo.
The purpose of this meeting is:
- to discuss the contents of the City’s 2023/2024 Annual Report; and
- any other General Business.

The City, as part of its 2024/2025 Capital Works Program, is proceeding with the resurfacing of Mirrabooka Avenue (northbound carriageway) between Marangaroo Drive and Rawlinson Drive. Works will commence on 9 December 2024 with completion anticipated within two (2) weeks.
The renewal portion of works will need to be carried out over four (4) to five (5) night shifts.

Amendment to Local Planning Policy 2.5: Telecommunications Infrastructure
At the 12 November 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting, Council resolved to amend Local Planning Policy 2.5: Telecommunications Infrastructure. Amendments to this policy have:
- Adjusted the existing provisions that guide development assessment for telecommunications infrastructure;
- Introduced detailed planning guidance for considering telecommunications infrastructure at early stages of planning (e.g. when an area is first developed); and
- Provided development approval exemptions in certain locations, to encourage the installation of telecommunications infrastructure away from sensitive areas (such as housing).
