One of Perth’s fastest growing suburbs, Yanchep is poised to become the centre of a thriving urban corridor, stretching from Alkimos to Two Rocks.
To create greater opportunities for tourism, recreation, and economic growth in Yanchep we are completing the Yanchep Lagoon Improvement Project, working closely with residents and stakeholders to guide the future development of the Yanchep Lagoon precinct to ensure outcomes meet community needs.

Yanchep FMP draft Implementation Plan on Council agenda
Update 3 September 2026
Please be advised that the Foreshore Management Plan and draft Implementation Plan will be discussed by Council at its Briefing Session on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, from 6pm.
The item will then be considered at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 22 September 2026, 6pm.
A copy of the report that will be presented at the Council Briefing Session is now available on the City’s website – See Agenda Minutes and agendas.
Any changes that may arise from the Briefing Session will be reflected in the agenda for the Council Meeting, which will be posted on the City’s website on Friday 20 September 2026.

Wanneroo Council has voted to progress the draft Yanchep Lagoon Foreshore Management Plan (LFMP) to the Western Australian Planning Commission for consideration.

Foreshore Management progresses
Update April 2026
The Yanchep Lagoon Foreshore Management Plan, following Council’s resolution (March 2026), has been submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission via Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage for consideration. This milestone represents the culmination of several years of planning, technical investigation and extensive engagement. Subject to endorsement, the FMP is expected to return to Council mid-2026, alongside a detailed implementation plan outlining staging, priorities, indicative costs, communications, and timeframes for delivery.

Catch the bus to Yanchep Lagoon – Transperth bus route trial
Starting Sunday 27 April, Transperth will be trialling a new route for bus 494 which includes a stop at Yanchep Lagoon.
The trial route will run during off-peak periods and weekends until the end of the 2025/2026 summer season. Find out more on the Transperth website.
