Volunteers are a highly valued part of the City of Wanneroo and play a vital role in making our communities stronger, especially during times of need, crisis or isolation. Volunteering with the City of Wanneroo

The City has a number of exciting volunteer roles across a wide variety of City programs and services. Examples of some of these roles are provided below.
If you have a friendly face and a regular C class driver's licence, this role might be for you. Our volunteers drive a 12 seater bus from the Ashby depot to pick up local seniors, take them to their various social groups and activities, and home again afterwards. You’ll have the opportunity for a good chat along the way and get to enjoy the experience of supporting our local seniors stay engaged in the community. Drivers are needed on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, with a start time of approx. 7.45am.
Conservation Volunteers may be involved in a variety of conservation activities for a specific reserve (or group of reserves) to help improve the reserve’s conservation values and the community’s appreciation for natural areas. Activities can include rubbish collection, weed control, guided nature walks, raising environmental awareness, planting of rehabilitation sites, flora/fauna monitoring and reporting vandalism or other issues. We need you to help create wonderful experiences for our visitors. As a Visitor Experience Volunteer you will assist the Cultural Services team to provide great customer service, activities and programs at the Wanneroo Regional Museum, Gallery and Heritage Houses. Join us and be part of a fun and passionate network of people who love all things history, heritage and arts.
We have a range of volunteer roles that work alongside staff to support the delivery of library-based programs such as It’s All About Play, Lego Club and Learning English Through Storytime. Volunteers also provide valuable back of house support with preparing materials for programs and outreach deliveries.
These volunteers work from our libraries to assist community members to get online, increase their digital literacy and successfully undertake everyday computing tasks. Volunteers may work with community members one-to-one or in groups.
The Community History Centre is the perfect place to volunteer if you are interested in the history of Wanneroo. Our volunteers assist with a huge range of tasks, from arranging and housing historical information, to encapsulating maps and editing newspaper articles from TROVE. With a focus on discoverability, the Centre relies on the support of volunteers to make our rich history collection visible to the community.
Volunteers may assist with selection of books and other resources for homebound customers, or they may accompany staff in delivering the selections to customer residences.
Volunteers provide invaluable guidance to job seekers in preparing resumes to meet the needs of current recruiters. Volunteers may also assist with the delivery of other job seeker programs.
Our English Conversation Group volunteers facilitate fun, informal meetings with groups of adult learners of English, providing a safe space for them to practice and improve their speaking and listening skills.
