Community funding program

The City proudly provides opportunities for community groups and organisations to apply for funding support through the Community Funding Program.

Funding Information 

The next community funding round will open at 9am on Monday 12 February 2018 for Category A and B funding only (see descriptions below) for projects, activities and events commencing mid-July 2018 onwards. This round will close at 4pm on Monday 26 March 2018.

Potential applicant groups are encouraged to plan early, read the Community Funding Guidelines (see below) and consider their eligibility as well as project, activity or event eligibility for community funding.

The Community Funding Officer’s role is to assist applicants to access community funding by discussing proposed project, activity or event ideas to determine community funding eligibility and assist applicants through the community funding application process to ensure each application is viable for selection.

Attendance at a Community Funding Information Session is a pre-requisite for March 2018 round Community Funding applicants and sessions will be offered at the following locations:

  • Saturday 20 January 2018 // 10.30am to 12.30pm. Girrawheen Hub, 11 Patrick Court, Girrawheen.
  • Thursday 1 February 2018 // 10.00am to 12 midday. Merriwa Integrated Services Hub, 21 Landsdowne Place, Merriwa.

If potential applicants are unable to attend one of the above sessions, other opportunities can be arranged for small group sessions or one-to-one guidance.

Available funding categories:

Category A - Community Development Funding

Projects and activities that contribute to the growth and enrichment of community life in the City of Wanneroo.
Twice a year in March and October 

Category B - Community Event Funding

Community-based events developed and conducted across the City of Wanneroo
Twice a year in March and October

Category C - Hallmark Event Funding

Events that contribute to the City of Wanneroo’s history and identity. Events identified as ‘Hallmark’ include Australia Day, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day. 
Every 3 years (next consideration due in 2017)

Category D - Christmas Community Celebration Event Funding

Events recognising the City of Wanneroo's commitment to support and celebrate the community.
Every 5 years (next consideration due in 2018)

Important Dates:

February 2018: Community Funding applications open
March 2018: Community Funding applications close
April 2018: Community Funding Working Group assessment and recommendation. 
May 2018: Council approval of Community Funding applications.
