Published Wednesday, 25th March 2015

The City of Wanneroo is pleased to announce the development of a new bicycle plan that will better cater for cyclists of all types and resident input at community workshops is being sought.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the City had a vision to make cycling an integral part of daily life in Wanneroo, so people of all ages and abilities could use bicycles safely for all kinds of trips.

“Cycling is healthy, environmentally-friendly and also has economic benefits for individuals and the community,” she said.

“One of the key components of the City’s bicycle strategy is to create a traffic environment that actively encourages cycling through the community, and links major activity centres such as schools, commercial precents and new residential developments within the transport hub.

“As part of the Wanneroo bike plan development, we are conducting extensive community consultation and I would strongly encourage all residents to be a part of the discussions.”

As part of the Wanneroo bike plan development, residents are invited to attend public meetings to discuss their views and share any comments or opinions.

The City is currently considering a range of different cycle routes and design solutions to meet resident needs and ensure a safe, continuous journey between destinations.

Your feedback will ensure the City creates an accessible bicycle network that will encourage a broader spectrum of the community to cycle.
