History Hunters at Cockman House - 3 hours duration including morning recess
When: Monday to Friday mornings: 9:15am to 12:15pm
This highly interactive program focuses on students comparing their own lives to the children who lived in Cockman House. Hands-on chores, old-fashioned games and the creation of a peg doll are features of this enquiry program.
Schedule
- 9:15 Arrival and orientation
- 9:30 – 9:50 Intro and timeline
- 9:50 – 11:00 4 x 15-minute rotation activities
- 11:00 – 11:20 Recess & games
- 11:20 – 12:00 2 x 20-minute rotation activities
- 12:00- 12:15 Recap & students depart or option to stay for lunch until 12:45

Year 1: The diverse structures and sizes of families, the familial roles today and how these have stayed the same or changed over time. Year 2: The importance today of an historical site or place and why it has heritage significance and cultural values for present generations. Year 3: Significant events, symbols and emblems that are important to Australia’s shared identity and diversity, and how they are celebrated, commemorated or recognised in Australia. |
| Questioning and researching |
Pose and respond to reflective questions about objects, people, places and events in the past and present. Locate information from a variety of provided sources. |

Program cost per session (one session= minimum of 20 students, maximum of 35 students)
- 20-24 students: $125.00
- 25-29 students: $155.00
- 30-35 students: $175.00
- Adults are free of charge.
We require a ratio of at least one adult to five students. Additional adult helpers are always welcome.
