Eligibility criteria
The Government of Western Australia provides a concession to people who meet certain eligibility criteria.
To qualify for a concession on your rates and ESL charges, you must:
- Own and occupy the property on 1 July of the rating year.
- Be registered with the City of Wanneroo or Water Corporation.
- Hold one of the following cards:
- Pensioner Concession Card
- State Concession Card
- WA Seniors Card
- Commonwealth Seniors Health Card with a WA Seniors Card
Owning the property means you either:
- Are the owner or co-owner listed on the Certificate of Title
- Have a legal right to live there under a will (with proof)
- Hold a long-term lease in a retirement village, park home park, or caravan/lifestyle village
Pro-rata rebates
If you become eligible for a concession during the rating year, you should register your entitlement with the Water Corporation as soon as possible.
You may qualify for a pro-rata rebate on your rates and ESL charges as long as:
- You owned and lived in the property on 1 July of that rating year
- You were registered as an eligible pensioner or senior during the rating year
The rebate will be calculated based on how many days of the rating year you were eligible and registered.
