Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the awards acknowledged the efforts of those who work towards saving lives and reducing road trauma.

“The Human Spirit Awards are highly regarded and recognise the important work of our road safety-conscious community members, and how highly they are valued,” Mayor Roberts said.

“School crossing attendants, parents involved in school road safety schemes, local police officers, cycling groups are all shining examples of people who are eligible for nomination.”

The awards are aimed at individuals or groups that have:

  • promoted and supported road safety;
  • participated in road safety projects, campaigns or activities;
  • developed policies or strategies to reduce road related deaths or trauma; or
  • raised awareness of local safety issues.

“Road safety is the responsibility of everybody and by highlighting the positive contribution of these community members, I hope others will be encouraged to help create safer roads for everyone.”
