Wangara Recycling Facility
Wangara Recycling Facility accepts clean green waste from the public and processes it into shredded greens. It also accepts challenging recycling items, including e-waste, batteries, bulk cardboard, polystyrene, used cooking oil* and scrap metal.
*Note: This is the only location accepting used cooking oil for City of Wanneroo residents.
Location and opening hours
- Address: 70 Motivation Drive, Wangara
- Opening hours: 8am to 4:45pm weekends and public holidays.
- Closed: Weekdays, Good Friday, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
Greenwaste drop-off
Entry with a green waste tipping voucher
Four disposals of clean green waste per year (one standard 6x4 trailer-load) are free with a valid Wangara Recycling Facility voucher, included with your annual rates notice. Simply present the QR code on your voucher each visit to be scanned on entry - either a printed copy or directly on your mobile phone. If you are renting, please contact your property manager or landlord to obtain the voucher for the property.
Entry without a valid green waste tipping voucher
If you do not have a valid voucher, you can still use the facility for a fee:
- $24 for a car
- $40.50 for a ute
- $40.50 for a car and trailer up to half a tonne
- Trucks: $103 per tonne
Cash and EFTPOS payments are accepted.
Guidelines and restrictions
Please note the following:
- Any contaminated loads will be refused upon inspection at entry.
- No boxes or bags of waste.
- Containers, boxes, or bags of green waste must be emptied and removed from the site.
- No sand, soil, rocks, building materials, bricks, or turf.
- No processed timber, sleepers, or bamboo screens.
- Branches must be no longer than 1.5 metres.
- No large tree stumps (guideline: a stump must be able to be lifted by two people to shoulder height).
Recycling and e-waste drop-off
Unlimited access to the facility is free with a valid residential recycling voucher, included with your annual rates notice.

- Used motor oil: limit of 20L maximum per day
- Used cooking oil and animal fats: limit of 10L maximum per day, in a sealed container up to 5L per unit
- Printer ink cartridges
- Plastic bottle lids
- Polystyrene (see below)
- Scrap metal (see below).
Type of e-waste accepted:
Residents are encouraged to drop off small e-waste items at Wangara Recycling Facility. Bulky e-waste items are not accepted and are to be picked up as part of the bulk verge collection service.

Type of polystyrene accepted
Polystyrene can only be dropped off by City of Wanneroo residents.
- Accepted: Bulky white expanded polystyrene packaging (coded EPS, PS or code 6), such as those used in packaging appliances. Please remove tape, plastic and other contaminants, and ensure the material is clean and dry.
- Not accepted: Takeaway containers, meat trays, coffee cups, beanbag beads, construction insulation, polyethylene foam, packing peanuts/popcorn, pool noodles, or any other type of expanded plastic.
Type of scrap metal accepted:
- Accepted: Steel/aluminium cans, fence/roof sheeting, car rims (without tyres), hot water systems, domestic pots and pans, steel/aluminium furniture, white goods (except fridges) or steel pipes.
- Not accepted: Fridges, gas bottles or fire extinguishers.
Note for commercial contractors
Commercial organisations can access the facility using a residential tipping, as long as they have a letter from a resident authorising them to dispose of green waste on their behalf.
The letter must include:
- the resident's full name, address and
- Rates Assessment Number (found on the rates notice)
- the resident's signature.
If the letter does not include the required information, the contractor will have to pay the applicable gate fee or may be refused entry.
Tamala Park (Mindarie Regional Council)
Operated by the Mindarie Regional Council, Tamala Park includes:
- A landfill site
- A free recyclable drop-off centre accepting e-waste, household hazardous waste, and white goods
- A Reuse Shop for quality items
- Acceptance of asbestos for disposal. Free on limited days.

Recycling Centre Balcatta
Operated by the City of Stirling, the Recycling Centre Balcatta includes:
- A free recycling drop-off for items such as e-waste and scrap metal
- A weighbridge to dispose of larger general waste loads
- Reuse Shop for quality items.

City libraries
Did you know you can take the following items to the City’s libraries?
- Household batteries
- Compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) globes*
- Ink cartridges
- Pens.
* A CFL is an energy-efficient fluorescent light bulb. CFLs are more compact and can fit into the same sockets as standard light bulbs. They are different from long fluorescent tubes, which are larger and typically used in commercial or industrial settings.
